Christmas lights in Paris: every year, it’s a show without comparison! Here is my selection of the most enchanting places in the city to put some glitter in the last days of 2020 that we can’t wait for!
And if you are wondering where this pretty passage at the top of the article is located… it is the Galerie Vivienne located in the 2nd arrondissement! A place that I love to show you during my tour of central Paris secrets and its covered passages.
It is, like all my tours, part of the walks you can offer thanks to my special Christmas gift card: all tours at the price of 220 ? whether you are 2 or 10, valid until December 2021!
Order it now, decide around the Christmas tree which neighborhood to visit and who will want to participate in this cultural adventure!
To be continued, 5 Parisian places that I love at the end of the year and where the enchantment is total!
Les Champs-Elysées : the traditional Paris Christmas lights
It is the reference in terms of Christmas lights in Paris! Every year at the beginning of December, the Champs-Élysées are illuminated for our greatest pleasure. Red lights decorate the dozens of trees on the most beautiful avenue in the world.
The show continues all along the avenue as each store has also adorned its front with Christmas lights and decorations! Guerlain is one of the stores not to be missed…
When to go there? Ideal at the end of the day, when night has not quite fallen. The contrast between the red of the trees and the color of the sky at the end of the day promises a breathtaking moment. For my part it was a rainy sky but finally, it’s rather grandiose, isn’t it!?
Avenue Montaigne : the most enchanting Christmas lights in Paris
It would be a shame to miss it once you’ve walked down the Champs-Élysées! Known throughout the world for hosting the most beautiful addresses dedicated to luxury in Paris, the Avenue Montaigne is magnificent at the end of the year. Indeed, it was after the Second World War that Christian Dior set up his boutique here… a snowball effect occurred: the development of luxury business in this avenue will never stop!
This year the avenue Montaigne is sublimated by starry rain: the trees have little sparkles that produce a lot of light… you are in another world! Combine this with the beauty of the storefronts of brands such as Chanel, Givenchy, Céline… you won’t know what to think!
When to go there? At dark night!
Where ? Avenue Montaigne, Paris 8
Les Galeries Lafayette : the most beautiful Christmas tree in Paris
Galeries Lafayette is known worldwide for its traditional « Christmas windows« : enchanting universes, real shows to be admired from the street! Many families walk along the Boulevard Haussmann every year to admire these decorations with their children!
Personally, what I prefer to Galeries Lafayette at Christmas time is inside! I’m talking about the splendid Christmas tree as suspended from the dome of the Department Store.
If you are lucky and the wait is not too long, the Glasswalk located on the 3rd floor allows you to admire closely the details of the dome and the tree! I love the small plane located near the top of the Christmas tree!
When to go there? Preferably on weekday mornings to avoid crowds.
Psssst: Don’t forget to go up to the 6th floor to admire the view of Paris, with a close-up on the Opéra Garnier… definitely one of my favorite views of Paris!
Where? 40 Boulevard Haussmann, Paris 9
Rue Saint Honoré : Christmas lights in Paris that make us travel
Le Bon Marché : my favorite Christmas lights in Paris

The Saint-Honoré street did its best this year with some stunning Christmas lights! If the whole street sparkles, the highlight of the show is at number 263 on the street, in front of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption church. Since the beginning of December, there is a magnificent (fictitious!) hot air balloon. You can climb aboard to admire the decoration more closely.
Facing it, the Dior boutique is, in my opinion, the most sumptuous store in Paris with this gigantic glittering rose window.
When to go there? À la nuit tombée !
Where?

« Last but not least » my favorite Christmas lighting in Paris is at Le Bon Marché… it’s actually ALL Le Bon Marché that this year has put the emphasis on decoration! The oldest department store in Paris has become a veritable forest of snow-covered Christmas trees hanging from the ceiling of the building: the Christmas atmosphere is at its peak!
Don’t miss the space especially dedicated to Christmas tree decoration: hundreds of Christmas bulbs and trees decorated in different universes! THANK YOU Le Bon Marché for this magical moment.
When to go there? Preferably on weekday mornings to avoid crowds.
Where? 24 Rue de Sèvres, Paris 6
